German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said today that what was agreed under the Brussels Agreement needs to be implemented, and that action should be taken towards establishing the Community of Serbian Municipalities.

Regarding the Brussels Agreement, Steinmeier said that he saw no views in favour of not implementing what was agreed upon.

"I hope that I can and may say, without this being interpreted in one way in Priština and in another way in Belgrade. What was agreed upon should be implemented and I am not aware of any statements which call this into doubt," Steinmeier said at a press conference with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić.

"Action should still be taken towards establishing the Community of Serbian Municipalities," he said.

Steinmeier recalled that the progress in the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Priština was crucial for the European Commission and the EU in sending out a positive signal to open negotiation chapters with Serbia.

Vučić said that Serbia would continue the dialogue with Priština, but that the Community of Serbian Municipalities was the essence of the Brussels Agreement.

The Prime Minister said the agreement was not easy to reach and added,

"Without wishing to say anything improper, I hope Priština will be able to ensure stability and make a decision on establishing the Community of Serbian Municipalities".

He reiterated that the Serbian Party was ready for the continuation of the dialogue and that it was prepared to go to Brussels and talk with its Albanian counterparts.

"This is important for Serbia and Albanians, Kosovo and Metohija, the region and the future. We don't have to adore each other, but we do have to have future together," Vučić said and underscored that Serbia would continue to act responsibly in the future.
