Head of EU Diplomacy Federica Mogherini, who facilitated today's round of Belgrade-Priština Dialogue, expressed her satisfaction with the progress made in diploma recognition, as well as the implementation of the Freedom of Movement Agreement, and added that both sides agreed to start discussions on direct air and railway connections.
She said in a press statement issued after the meeting that the talks were held in a very good atmosphere and that the topics discussed included the implementation of the agreements made as part of the Dialogue – the 2011 Agreements on University Diploma Recognition and Freedom of Movement, the 2013 First Agreement and the August 2015 agreements.
"It was confirmed today that the mutual acceptance of educational and professional diplomas and certificates is becoming a reality. On this basis, students will be able to continue their studies and professionals will be able to improve their employment prospects, both in Serbia and in Kosovo. We also significantly advanced on the implementation of the Agreement on Freedom of Movement, in particular on the provisions on licence plates," Mogherini stated.
In addition, the discussion focused on the commitment of both sides to work on the implementation of the Agreement for the Establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities on the basis of the agreements previously signed.
According to Mogherini, both sides agreed to start discussions on direct air and railway connections between Kosovo and Serbia.
Mogherini thanked the Prime Ministers of Serbia and Kosovo for their commitment to further normalisation of the relations within the framework of the Dialogue.
"Today's meeting demonstrated their readiness to move forward with a constructive approach. We are all mindful of the need to bring direct and concrete benefits to the citizens of Serbia and Kosovo, who wish to advance on their European path," she underscored.
According to her, the EU will continue to support the full implementation of today's arrangements, previous agreements and further progress in normalisation.
