Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, held a meeting today with the members of the Working group of the Council of the EU on enlargement (COELA) and informed them about the course of Belgrade-Priština dialogue and problems of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
Đurić said that Belgrade is interested to continue EU facilitated dialogue and expressed concern regarding the fact that the talks between expert teams in Brussels have not been held since November. Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that Priština actively avoided implementing the agreements reached in Brussels during this period and thusly threatened the achievement of the basic aim of the dialogue, that is, a better life for the citizens in the Province.
Especially recalling the problems of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić pointed out that Belgrade consistently insists on establishment of the Municipalities of Serbian communities in line with the agreements reached in Brussels and that it is necessary for EU, being the dialogue facilitator, to ensure the implementation of the agreed.
As he underlined, Belgrade also insists on inclusion of all topics of interest for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija into the dialogue, but that the remaining stakeholders have not shown appreciation regarding this matter.
