EU High Representative Federica Mogherini stated tonight that the agreements reached earlier in the day between the prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vučić and Isa Mustafa, marked a turning point in the negotiation process between Belgrade and Priština.
"The prime ministers marked a turning point in the dialogue. They reached the agreement on general principles and main elements of the Community of Serbian municipalities, which paves the way for its establishment", reads the press release of Federica Mogherini.
She added that Vučić and Mustafa also agreed on further implementation of the energy and telecommunications agreements, which will facilitate the operation of the telecommunications system in Kosovo.
"The prime ministers also agreed the arrangement for the (Kosovska) Mitrovica Bridge. This will allow the use of the bridge in a mutually acceptable way, which symbolizes the spirit of the dialogue that I am facilitating", says the press release of the EU High Representative.
Mogherini added that today's agreements represent a "landmark in the normalization process" bringing concrete benefits to the people and at the same time enabling the two sides to advance on their path towards the EU.
"Prime Ministers' dedication was beneficial and I confirm that the EU will actively support the full implementation of these agreements," stated Federica Mogherini and announced new phases of the dialogue in the upcoming months.
