Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said today that Belgrade expects a reaction from Brussels concerning Priština's announcement on suspending the agreement on the formation the Community of Serbian Municipalities until further notice, since such a decision raises many issues, including those of fundamental and strategic importance for the Republic of Serbia.
Speaking to the reporters after his meeting with the Russian president Putin, who was briefed on the latest developments, Vučić pointed out that the news about the postponement of the formation of ZSO comes only a day after Pristina has been, for all intents and purposes, rewarded by signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, after having failied to follow through on its commitments stemming from the Brussels Agreement.
PM Vučić recalled that 40 percent of the Brussels Agreement concerns the CSM, as the only thing that Belgrade requested in order protect the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and that Priština was granted the SAA before Belgrade could open accession chapters, and that Belgrade still managed to refrain from negative reactions.
However, the prime minister explained that the announcement on suspending formation of CSM does not concerns only Pristina, but also Brussels:
"This ushers in much wider, extensive and more sizable issues than Priština's attitude. It imposes other, much more central and outstanding issues that we need to consider – about the value of being honest and responsible and fulfilling one's obligations, for which you don't get rewarded, and the advantages of not implementing anything and still being rewarded. Not to mention other issues, which are now brought to the surface, and which I better not delve into today," said the Prime Minister.
He announced a meeting of the state leadership, in order to assess what all this means from the perspective of the core and strategic interests of the Republic of Serbia.
Prime Minister Vučić informed the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin that Belgrade is concerned with the recent statements coming from Priština, indicating a possibility that the agreements hitherto achieved would not be implemented, primarily the agreement on the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities.
In his talks with the head of the Russian state, Vučić noted that the situation in the Balkans and the world in general, is very complex, and recalled the agreements reached in Brussels between Belgrade and Priština.
"And today we have the so-called President of Kosovo saying that they have no intention of realizing, i.e. implementing the most important of all agreements, which grave and difficult news for us", Vučić said.
The President of the self-proclaimed Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, decided to request the assessment of constitutionality of the agreement on the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities.
She will, according to the media in Priština, request that the agreement reached in Brussels be suspended until the Constitutional Court has provided its opinion. This initiative has been supported by so-called Prime Minister Isa Mustafa.
