Director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić stated on Thursday that the time has come for forgiveness, reconciliation and direct talks between Belgrade and Priština.
Đurić said that Serbs and ethnic Albanians will never reach an agreement about the status of Kosovo and Metohija but we all need to understand that there are matters and interests on which a political agreement needs to be reached because there can be no safe and peaceful future without it.
The Serbian government will do all it can to fully liberalise the flow of goods, passengers and capital in the territory, Đurić said at the conference on the reconstruction of the Serbian-Albanian relations held in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, home to ethnic Albanians.
I believe that the time has come for representatives of Belgrade and Priština to discuss the ways to achieve this, he said.
Đurić noted that Belgrade is ready to consider establishment of joint companies, joint investments and launching of joint initiatives for economic development.
The efforts invested by the Prime Ministers Edi Rama (of Albania) and Aleksandar Vučić (of Serbia) should now be followed through at all levels and across the territories which are home to Serbs and ethnic Albanians, Director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo and Metohija pointed out.
